ROOTED IN LOVE
Relationships are among God’s greatest gifts, yet they often reveal the places where we still need His grace. We long to be understood, appreciated, and loved, but sometimes forget that those around us carry the same longing. A sharp word, an unanswered message, or an old disappointment can quietly build walls between hearts.
Jesus invites us to choose a different way: love. Not love that ignores wrongdoing or pretends everything is easy, but love shaped by truth, patience, humility, and mercy. In John 13:34, Jesus commands His followers to love one another as He has loved them. His love becomes both our example and our strength.
Before trying to change someone else today, pause and invite God to examine your own heart. Is there pride beneath your frustration? Fear beneath your defensiveness? Hurt beneath your silence? Bring these things honestly before Him. You do not have to hide your weakness from the One who knows you completely.
Perhaps your next faithful step is offering an apology without an excuse. Perhaps it is listening without preparing your defense. Perhaps it is setting a necessary boundary without bitterness. Forgiveness does not require pretending harm never happened, and reconciliation cannot be forced. Still, you can ask God to keep resentment from becoming the ruler of your heart.
Remember that you are not responsible for controlling another person’s response. You are responsible for the spirit in which you speak and act. Trust God with what you cannot repair, and remain willing to do the good that is yours to do.
Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me with patience and truth. Help me extend that same grace to others. Give me courage to apologize, wisdom to establish healthy boundaries, and compassion to listen well. Let my relationships reflect Your presence, one faithful choice at a time. Amen.
